My name is…

Hi there, my name is Bret Baker and I’m delighted to finally have a domain name with MY NAME in it. Took me a while as it was used by a real estate company for a long time but I’m happy to say that it is now all mine…so what should I do with it?

I have always likes the idea of having my own personal blog and used to have a blogspot one a few years back but it got deleted by mistake and I didn’t really have the interest to try resurrect it. I was a really busy guy back then and rarely had free time to write down anything.

Things have changed now. I no longer have a job having been made redundant last year which was a really tough thing but its also given me time to take a look at my life and see where it is going. When I’m constantly working I just have to really try to get on with things as best I can. Its only when everything stops that I can see things a bit more clearly.

Its been a tough time family wise but luckily we are OK financially for the next few years anyway as I was always a good saver. I have a lot of free time now which I try to make use of rather than sitting around feeling sorry for myself.

My job prospects look OK and I have a few ideas myself that I would like to try but they cost money and I’m worried about losing my savings. I guess I will need to be brave and determined but its something which will need a lot of thought and planning.

As well as writing about my life in general, I will probably use this blog to write about services and other stuff I have found online which has been useful for me. Looking forward to it…

Italy

Its a good few years ago now but lately I have been thinking about a holiday to Italy I took with my family a few years back. Maybe its because I’m longing to get away from it all at the moment, I dunno really but it was a hell of a trip (hell as in good).

It was 2010 and things were going great for the Baker family financially so why not finally book that dream holiday to Europe. I headed to expedia and found some great flight deals and arranged the hotels while I was there as well. I love these all in one type of sites, so convenient.

I did look elsewhere for a rental car though using a site called car rental Italy which seems to be still going strong today though the headline reads car hire Italy, guess that’s more European. Anyway off we went with Rome our choice of destination. My wife being the good catholic that she is was very happy to get a chance to visit the Vatican and see her old friend the pope.

The weather was beautiful for the trip and we eat like royalty (the Italians really know a thing or two about food). It was a trip where we spared little expense with a real top class hotel. We even brought a few extended family members along who if I’m honest can sometimes be a pain but on this trip it was like everything was aligned perfectly and nothing could go wrong.

Gotta do something like this again soon..
